The benefits of vetiver

Vetiver, beneficial plant

Do you know vetiver? Originally from India, vetiver has been introduced to many tropical countries. It is mainly found in China, Brazil, Madagascar and Guatemala. However, as of today, Indonesia and Haiti are the main producers. This succulent plant resembles wild grasses and can measure up to two meters. Its roots, yellow, white or brown, can go up to five meters underground and are wildly used as therapeutic treatment. Vetiver has always been appreciated and used for its aromatic properties, especially in Eastern countries.

Traditionally used in Ayurvedic medicine (1) for its many therapeutic properties, vetiver oil is known for its soothing, antidepressant, curative and sedative properties.

Vetiver in aromatherapy

How do we get an essential oil out of Vetiver? It is obtained from the distillation of the root of the plant. Its essential oil is defined as a complete oil because it contains so many benefits but also because of its composition. On average it takes 1000kg of dried roots to obtain 10 to 15 kg of essential oil, which makes it a precious oil.

Used in aromatherapy , vetiver oil has properties that give us calm, serenity and strength at the same time. We use it for anchoring and insurance, because it allows us to live in the present moment, to live here and now with determination. The Indians have nicknamed it " the oil of tranquility ".

Vetiver in perfumery

Part of the pyrogenic family, vetiver is prized in perfumery for its smoky, warm, comforting and sweet notes. Its leaves and roots bring benefits to our health and contribute to our well-being.

At 100BON we particularly appreciate this beneficial natural ingredient. This is why we have incorporated it into our “ Ginger and Vetiver ”, “ Vegetable Leather ”, “ Ginger and Vetiver ” and “ Here and now ” fragrances. ANCHOR YOURSELF.

(1) The practice of Ayurvedic medicine aims to treat the patient and not the disease. This involves a personalized Ayurvedic assessment where the practitioner determines the type of treatment to be implemented. This is based on herbal medicine, Ayurvedic massage, breathing, meditation, dietetics, singing or yoga, this treatment helps to restore and / or maintain the balance between body and mind.
